The godfathers of Techno are back! For their 30th anniversary, U96 release a cover version of the DONOVAN classic “Atlantis"” in their very own version together with Claude-Oliver RudolphThe first Techno album ever was released almost 30 years ago: ‘Das Boot’ by U96. In the time before that, techno DJs and producer teams primarily limited themselves to the publication of current tracks and remixes on the 12” vinyl format. As the name suggests, the cornerstone for this album was the first noteworthy chart success of Techno culture: ‘Das Boot’ by U96 not only made the genre of Techno socially acceptable beyond the scene, but also reached top positions in the charts worldwide. In Germany alone, the Maxi stayed in first place for months and sold more than 1,000,000 copies. U96 was the commercial forerunner of the Techno movement. At that time it was still an underground, young scene, which advanced to an international movement with “Mayday” and then the “Loveparade” in the 90s.
