wardruna uk2022Royal Festival Hall, London, UK
17th March 2022
Wardruna & Support: Jo Quail

WARDRUNA have not performed in the UK since before The Plague gripped us all around the throat two years ago. Their Nordic incantations to the runes, nature and spiritual healing have had to be experienced via private rituals, either on your own or in the company of small groups as sanctioned by the law. Before then these rituals would have been witnessed in far flung places as Red Rock Colorado, St Petersburg in Russia or Sofia in Bulgaria, the ‘Runaljod’ trilogy, ‘Skald’ and ‘Kvitravn’ all had their turn soothing and calming my mind during this period and inculcating astral projections and psychic time travelling that took me out of the mundanity of the present and into worlds that invoked ancient Nordic textures and nature.

Now this imprisonment is coming to an end and we are all out on parole, Einar Selvik, Lindy Fay Hella, Arne Sandvoll, HC Dalgaard, Eilif Gundersen and John Stenersen are coming to the UK on the 17th of March to invoke again. This time the ritual will be at The Royal Festival Hall on the Southbank of the river Thame, a stone’s throw away from The Globe Theatre and Tate Modern. WARDUNA will be ably supported by the wonderful JO QUAIL who will be delighting us with her enigmatic but bony looking electric cello and her trusty boss loop station. I hope to see you there, it will be cathartic!
