TARJA released her fifth studio album on August 30, 2019 and now, the Finnish singer will finally present her new songs on tour in Europe - although she will of course also have a treasure chest full of classics with her! TARJA comments: “I am very happy and also very excited about my upcoming tour in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands,” says the Finnish soprano. “Of course, I will be presenting my new album ‘In The Raw’. I promise you this tour is going to be amazing! I can’t wait to rock again with my fans and friends! Thank you all for making it possible and we do I hope to see you at one of my concerts soon!”
TARJA is an exceptional artist who actually needs no introduction. As the first frontwoman of Finnish chart-toppers NIGHTWISH, she rewrote the Heavy Metal rule book. The innovative combination of her classically trained soprano with Symphonic Heavy Metal has not only created a new genre, but has also found countless imitators to date and inspired thousands of young girls to take singing lessons and to give women in Heavy Metal a specifically female voice. After announcing her solo career and breaking up with the band in 2005, TARJA released her first Rock and Metal album two years later entitled ‘My Winter Storm’ (2007). Three years after their last album ‘The Shadow Self’ (2016), ‘In The Raw’ once again showcases TARJA’s distinctive and wonderful soprano.
Working with her band’s musicians and her veteran producing team, the idea that gold doesn’t necessarily have to be shiny, but is a raw element in its natural state, came to the fore. The idea of the raw is reflected in the music on the album, which is a perfect combination of sophisticated and sophisticated orchestration, a choir and the classically trained voice of TARJA with a raw, dark, heavy musical core. The concept of gold in its raw form is also visually represented in the album artwork, which features TARJA, photographed by Tim Tronckoe, in St Michael’s Grotto, Gibraltar - surrounded by vibrant colors and golden shimmers.
