The multimedia project KRAFTWERK was founded in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider. They established their electronic Kling-Klang Studio in Düsseldorf, where they conceptualized, composed, and produced all KRAFTWERK albums. By the mid-1970s, KRAFTWERK had already gained international recognition for their revolutionary electronic soundscapes and their musical experiments with robotics and technological innovations. With their futuristic vision, KRAFTWERK shaped the soundtrack of our digital 21st century. Their legendary works, incorporating synthetic voices and computerized rhythms, have had a profound influence on various music genres, from Electro to Hip-Hop, Techno to Synth-Pop.
During their live concerts, KRAFTWERK founder Ralf Hütter, alongside his team, brings the concept of the “Man-Machine” to life. Beginning with their retrospective performance series “1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8” at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 2012, KRAFTWERK has revisited their origins within Düsseldorf’s late 1960s art scene in recent years. Following their 3D concert series at MoMA, KRAFTWERK continued with performances at Kunstsammlung NRW Düsseldorf (2013), Tate Modern Turbine Hall (London), Akasaka Blitz (Tokyo), Sydney Opera House, Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles), Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris), Neue Nationalgalerie (Berlin), Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao), and Burgtheater Vienna (2014).
In 2014, electronic music pioneer Ralf Hütter and his former partner were honoured with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. In October 2021, KRAFTWERK was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This November and December 2025, KRAFTWERK founder Ralf Hütter, along with his team Henning Schmitz, Falk Grieffenhagen, and Georg Bongarts, will embark on a new multimedia tour across Europe, with 13 stops in Germany.
