Savatage - “Prelude to Madness Summer Tour 2026” - Special Guest: Nevermore
Acclaimed Progressive Metal pioneers SAVATAGE have announced their highly anticipated “Prelude To Madness Tour”, which will feature nine headline shows and several festival appearances across Europe in the summer of 2026. The tour kicks off on July 19 in Istanbul, Turkey, marking the band’s triumphant return to the stage following their successful European comeback in 2025 - after a hiatus of nearly two decades.
ARMORED SAINT, VISION DIVINE, and NEVERMORE will join the band on selected dates. The 2026 tour promises an explosive setlist spanning the band’s entire catalogue - including both classic anthems and lesser-known gems - underscoring SAVATAGE’s deep appreciation for their legendary fanbase, known as “The Legion.” Fans can look forward to the band’s raw energy and musical prowess, qualities that have only intensified during the decade in which SAVATAGE did not tour.
Vocalist Zak Stevens explains: “After the fantastic tours through South America and Europe last year, I am VERY much looking forward to the SAVATAGE 2026 headline shows in Europe. This tour is going to be great. It will mark the first time SAVATAGE has performed in Istanbul, Bucharest, Este (Italy), Warsaw, and Leipzig (Germany). So far, nine headline shows and a number of festivals are on the schedule. We are thrilled to welcome our old friends ARMORED SAINT, VISION DIVINE, and NEVERMORE as special guests. I can’t wait to see everyone there, celebrating the music loudly right along with us.”
SAVATAGE’s journey began in Tampa, Florida, founded by brothers Jon and Criss Oliva. Their history is defined by both triumph and tragedy, marked by groundbreaking albums such as the seminal ‘Hall of the Mountain King’ (1987) and the critically acclaimed rock opera ‘Streets’ (1991) - both of which continue to resonate with fans worldwide to this day. Following the untimely death of guitarist Criss Oliva in 1993 - in the wake of the success of ‘Edge of Thorns’ - the band pressed on with renewed determination, a journey that culminated in their groundbreaking 1995 album, ‘Dead Winter Dead’.
Over the course of their four-decade-long career, SAVATAGE has cultivated one of the most passionate cult followings in the Metal world. During their nearly 20-year touring hiatus, loyal fans campaigned tirelessly for the band’s return. Their electrifying reunion performance at Germany’s Wacken Open Air festival in 2015 thrilled 80,000 fans, reaffirming both SAVATAGE’s legendary status and the unwavering devotion of their audience.
Building on the success of their 2015 Wacken triumph, SAVATAGE made international headlines in 2025 with their first headlining shows since 2002. The European tour successfully united multiple generations of the “Legion” - longtime fans eagerly awaiting these long-anticipated performances, alongside newcomers discovering the band’s raw power for the very first time.
The “Prelude To Madness Tour” in 2026 will feature SAVATAGE’s current powerhouse line-up: vocalist Zak Stevens, guitarists Al Pitrelli and Chris Caffery, bassist Johnny Lee Middleton, and drummer Jeff Plate.
