After the shows by Australia’s Hard Rock giants AIRBOURNE in spring 2026 were mostly sold out, an additional show in at Wasserschloss Klaffenbach in Chemnitz is announced! Guitar riffs, energy, passion: With their debut album ‘Runnin Wild’ alone, AIRBOURNE rose to become the hottest Hard Rock band of the new millennium.
With their follow-ups - ’No Guts. No Glory’ (2010), ‘Black Dog Barking’ (2013), ‘Breakin’ Outta Hell’ (2016), and ‘Boneshaker’ (2019) - the Australian quartet established themselves as a global hit-making machine. In Germany, in particular, AIRBOURNE consistently sparks waves of wild enthusiasm: four of their five albums immediately stormed into the Top 10 upon release. Yet internationally, too, they have confidently cemented their status within the Hard Rock scene as the gold standard.
Consequently, AIRBOURNE is once again embarking on a world tour. After three of the six scheduled German shows for early 2026 have already sold out, prompting the band to announce an additional summer show in Chemnitz.
Hailing from the Australian town of Warrnambool (population 30,000), AIRBOURNE embodies everything that defines Hard Rock: guitar work on par with AC/DC, choruses in the vein of IRON MAIDEN, GUNS N’ ROSES, or MÖTLEY CRÜE, and a stage show capable of generating as much euphoria as an entire Heavy Metal festival.
With their debut album ‘Runnin’ Wild’ - released in May 2008 - Joel O’Keeffe (vocals, guitar), Ryan O’Keeffe (drums), David Roads (guitar), and Justin Street (bass) made one thing immediately clear: AIRBOURN couldn’t care less about trends and fads. Produced by Bob Marlette and Andy Wallace (OZZY OSBOURNE, ALICE COOPER, GUNS N’ ROSES), the record simply oozed self-confidence. Accordingly, they were honoured with the UK Metal Hammer Award for “Best Debut Album of the Year”.
Ever since, the band has consistently thrilled audiences everywhere with their electrifying, no-nonsense live shows. AIRBOURNE achieves all this through an honest, handcrafted, and passionate sound - one they have perfected and refined across four subsequent albums. Four of these five albums were nominated for Australia’s most prestigious music accolade, the ARIA Award, alongside numerous other awards and nominations.
The band has now welcomed a new rhythm guitarist, Brett Tyrrell, whose powerful playing injects a breath of fresh air into the group. Most recently, the band generated considerable excitement among fans with their single ‘GUTSY’, released just in time for the summer festival season. Kicking off with the toll of a bell, the track reveals AIRBOURNE at their most sophisticated - loud, bombastic, and commanding. Consequently, there is every reason to look forward with great anticipation to what the future holds for them musically.
