GWAR is a satirical Heavy-Metal band which was founded in 1985 by artists and musicians of the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Typically for the band are the costly costumes inspired by science fiction- and horror films. In their appearances they imitate in an amusing way subjects as for example suicide, pagan rituals, alcoholism, paedophilia or also Satanism.
