The Area4 Festival has come a long way from being initially a 1-day event in Oberhausen to one of Germany’s biggest rock festivals. 2010’s edition already saw about 20.000 attendees travelling from near and far to Borkenberge airfield in Lüdinghausen to celebrate three days of rock music and good weather. Well, most times good weather but the little rain shower last year was an exception in a tradition of sunny festivals. This year’s Area4 will introduce a second stage on long-time demand of many festival fans, so there will be even more acts to enjoy at the festival which apparently makes it even harder to decide for you. In the following you’ll get a little breakdown of what’s to come:
First of all that would be Jared Leto and his THIRTY SECODS TO MARS who’ll be sure to make all people in front of the stage sweat to the poppy rock tunes, or THE NATIONAL bringing together traditional singer/songwriter stuff with sublime indie rock with a classical and progressive tinge. For those of you all into the darker hours of life the WHITE LIES will be the thing to look forward to, offering music in the tradition of JOY DIVISION or INTERPOL with an increasingly rockier and poppier appeal and great gestures. To complete a little breakdown to show the diversity of the offered styles in the program we take the down-tuned riff madness of THE DEFTONES and the bold, straight-forward attitude of DANKO JONES, bringing their new drummer to the festival as well. Should already be more than enough reason to take a few days off for the festival, don’t you think?

Tickets
There are still tickets available for the early birds special price of 99,- EUR, including Fees and a 10,- EUR garbage deposit online at www.area4.de or by phone: +49(0)1805-853653. 3-Days Festival tickets bought in pre-sale also include one-time free travelling to and from the festival with short-range transit within the scope of Münsterland rate incl Unna as well as the VRR. From Dülmen station to the festival grounds there’ll be a free shuttle service available like in previous years.
