Review Flash
MAXXXWELL CARLISLE is a bodybuilding shred guitarist hailing from the City of Angels (LA, California). Originally from a suburb of Seattle by the name of Woodinville, this dude’s musical origins lie with the violin which he learned at the age of 11. ‘Visions of Speed and Thunder’ is his third full-length release since the first demo in 2009. MAXXXWELL CARLISLE is active since 2007 with his old-school Metal. Aside from Metal Carlisle competed in about 24 bodybuilding competitions from 2002 to 2009 and won his weight class 8 times. Back to the music: as a guitarist and shredder he is a competent and talented musician and not every guitarist can hold a candle to him, vocalist Michael Yancy has a nice way and phrasing but I am not a fan of Melody Schoenfeld’s voice because it’s too soft for the shredding parts and I am very picky with female vocals. Lyrical this is as true as true can but at times it’s also a Swiss cheese fest... if you dig MANOWAR you may like songs like ‘Ramming Speed’ or ‘Power Angel’ for its intransigence but if you like your metal for its thoughtfulness and intellectual content you may give MAXXXWELL CARLISLE a pass.
Conclusion: Technically nice Metal but after the new record of ATLANTEAM KODEX my brain demands more content and less cheese, still not bad and nice to party.
