Another day, another single and this time it is Austin, Texas’ MELBA CULP. Jack McConnell pointed me towards the YouTube video of this single and I thought: “Man this reminds me a bit of BLIND GUARDIAN’s Hansi Kürsch but as the vocalist for a METALLICA like band” and because of this chain-linking of thoughts in my very sober but Heavy Metal contaminated head I decided that a review is a good idea. McConnell’s voice is a bit on the rough and harsh side of vocals but still clean enough to not annoy me (which is good). The band formed in 2015 and is bound on releasing a more music this year. I can only say so much as I only ever heard this one song but it is angry, powerful, well played and old-school. You can clearly hear all involved musicians and that is not obligatory nowadays.
Conclusion: If the keep their quality and aggression MELBA CULP will surprise us with their full-length release.
