So, three-fourths of ARCANE TYRANT (drummer Jonathan Gushue, guitarist Curtis Beauchamp and vocalist Dustin Moroz) released a LP from their side project SHARP SWORD. Musically SHARP SWORD is more traditional Metal and less Epic Metal like ARCANE TYRANT, the compositions are a bit blunter what makes them also a bit catchier and more effective when it comes to pure headbanging material. The band was formed in 2020 and after releasing a demo named ‘Beyond The Black Gate’ in March, the guys did work on this nice full-length. Most songs are a bit cheesy but this is the kind of metal where a little cheese is inevitable (I like cheese to be honest). The sound is old-school as fuck and quite raw and unpolished but as I know the guys it is totally on purpose. There is a lot of raw and nasty metal to be released from these guys system, the bass reminds me a lot of MANOWAR...
Conclusion: If you like your 80s Metal raw and rude you should check this out as long as it’s fresh and HOT!
