Title: Into The Pantheon
Genre: Melodic Black Metal / Neofolk / Neo-classical
Release Date: 30th August 2013
Label: Prophecy Productions
One of the greatest bands in metal genres in my opinion was EMPYRIUM. No other band influenced my favour in metal songs combined with classical elements like this. The songs on every release are of such pulchritude that acts like DORNENREICH and ALCEST were influenced until today. The end of EMPYRIUM somehow meant like the end of an era within the melodic black metal genre. So, it was more than sensational when Schwadorf, who is still a band member of THE VISION BLEAK and working as a great producer, said that EMPYRIUM would play at the WGT.
After more than 15 years, Schwadorf and Helm played their very first show ever on June 11th, 2011 at the Wave Gotik Treffen in the Pantheon of Volkspalast Leipzig. For this memorable event, the two core members put together an illustrious concert line-up, consisting of Konstanz (The Vision Bleak), Neige (Alcest), Eviga (Dornenreich), Fursy Teyssier (Les Discrets), Aline Deinert (Neun Welten, Die Kammer) and Christoph Kutzer (Remember Twilight), who had rehearsed pieces from every creative phase of EMPYRIUM as well as the new, so-far unreleased song ‘Dead Winter Ways’.
It´s unnecessary to divide the songs played at this concert into their several pieces. A great setlist, grand musicians and an audience that took the music with ambition – that´s all you need to know about this magical moment. The show, which lasted about 70 minutes, was captured in sound and vision to be released now as an audio-CD and BluRay/DVD, recorded in high-resolution HD video and stereo, respectively 5.1 surround sound.
In addition to the concert, a documentary of more than 100 minutes provides a detailed and exhaustive account on the band's past by means of interviews with Schwadorf, Helm and the live musicians. Therefore, ‘Into The Pantheon’ is not only a must for fans, but also serves as an ideal introduction for everybody who wants to get a comprehensive overview of EMPYRIUM. Must-Have, with no argument!
