DEATH DEALER formed early 2012 when Stu Marshall and Sean Peck who had collaborated previously, met Mike Davis and Rhino when on tour in California with Empires of Eden. After that fateful meeting the four kept in touch over Facebook and soon developed the idea of this awe inspiring collaboration, resulting in the forming of super group DEATH DEALER. Listening to them there`s no way of arguing what their website calls “manly heavy metal”. Yes manly indeed. The one and only idol for Sean Peck obviously is Rob “The Metal god” Halford, undoubted technically one of the best metal singers known to mankind. The material of ‘War Master’ sounds very much like a mixture of Pecks band CAGE and Halfords JUDAS PRIEST, naturally at ‘Painkiller’ times.
The better part of the record the guys play mid-tempo power metal inspired by the likes of JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN, BLACK SABBATH and DIO. The sound is impulsive, rough and fast and Pecks vocal talent is never amiss. The guitar work is just as impressive and the rhythm generating likes of drummer Rhino and bassist Mike Davis keep that heavy metal train on his track. The record is an experience of its own, life this band will kill with songs like ‘Death Dealer’ and ‘The Devils Mile’ but listening to ten songs straight is kind of exhausting because Sean Peck doesn`t back down. 10 songs of high pitched screams and many up-tempo guitar solos take their toll on this poor guy and leave me wishing for some variety…
