Album Review

ANIMA VIRUS' ‘End of the Eden’ is the creation that has changed these musicians’ lifestyle upside down. The ANIMA VIRUS began in 1996 after the preceding act ‘The Vacuum’ in which Aurelio Gioia was the singer and guitarist rocking out as much as possible. That band was then and now the new arrival and a new era of music an album has invaded us and you get delivered with several tunes not worth ignoring. ‘Days of Ice’, ‘Bed of Thorns’ and ‘Blood from Heaven’ all deal with pain one way or another. ‘Days of Ice’ entitles the lifestyle of the frozen and un-dead world where as ‘Bed of Thorns’ is your sleeping coffin to which you will forever rest in peace in your bed of suffering thorns prickling your back for all eternity.

As for ‘Blood from Heaven’ that is the entrance gateway into a whole another world you never thought existed, having the blood of your blood overwhelm you from head to toe as it slithers its way out of your body and into the mind and soul of another living soul who needs it more; a nice balance between male and female vocal parts. One of the only weaker parts is the poorly executed cover version of ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN’s ‘The Killing Moon’. ‘End of the Eden’ oberall is a well-crafted album from an Italian gothic formation, which sounds different from the average Italian Goths! This mixture of industrial combines a similar styling of DEPECHE MODE vocal tone, along with BAUHAUS instrumental beatings with a dash of THE CURE as the toppings. Bringing out a liking that will be of your approval as soon as the first track takes flight; ANIMA VIRUS' ‘End of the Eden’ may have the end in the title but is just the beginning and continuation of something magical.
