Single Review

This German band formed in 2003 after founding member Steve:Kiai left his former band SOMACIDE and started working on his own music from ideas circulating in his mind for longer time but which didn’t fit to the band’s sound. In 2009, the duo ALL:MY:FAULTS can look back on a considerable amount of releases now complemented with the new single ‘on.seventh.change.of.comprehension’.

I didn’t have come in touch with the music of the German duo thus far and so I was quite surprised such a progressive and complexly arranged track as ‘Error Abyss and the pretty Accomplice’ is one as the opening track setting up quite a mellow tone within the first seconds. Melodic chant, a lighter drum’n’bass section and 8-bit melodies! But within the next moments the song would dramatically change into a Metal-influenced beast having furious, distorted screams as vocals instead. But that doesn’t even remotely describe the protean character of the track. Not bad guys, not bad! ‘Es wird ein Regen kommen’ (There’ll come a Rain) for that matter isn’t such an erratic affair. With a nightly storm and pouring rain it begins and after percussion, organ layers and guitars have taken their places in the sound construction an elaborate spoken-word performance begins that ruthlessly pays off with the deeds of mankind on this planet and foretells its inevitable fate while the guitar become murderous metal slices.

It was a pleasant surprise that came with the single which whets the appetite for a hopefully upcoming new album of the two guys. Looking forward to it!
