Single Review

DANISH DAYCARE is the solo project of Daniel Jönsson who had played keyboards for the Swedish formation EYEDROP before. In 2005, this band split up and Daniel became part of the band EMERALD PARK. Beside his job as guitarist and keyboarder of EMERALD PARK, he recorded more and more own songs in his studio. The upcoming DANISH DAYCARE long-player will be released on 23rd October; the single `A Purpose to my Sins´ has been available since 9th September 2009.

According to his MySpace-profile, Daniel Jönsson’s music was influenced by artists such as THE CURE, DEPECHE MODE, NEW ORDER and THE DOVES. If you listen to the title track, these preferences will be clearly audible. `A Purpose to my Sins´ is a nearly classical up-tempo Pop piece radiating a lot of 80s nostalgia. Introduced by sparkling synth sounds and a distinctive guitar theme, the song features pretty dark vocals as well as a catchy chorus including some harmony singing. The rather electronic second track `The Man in White´ begins with a minimalistic verse containing monotonous and darker vocals followed up by the anthemic and guitar-driven chorus.

Therefore, `A Purpose to my Sins´ is a nice foretaste preparing for the full-length release. If you like catchy tunes and appreciate 80s-like stuff, you will certainly enjoy this recording.
