Album Review

Having formed in 2004, the band known as THE PARLOR MOB formerly also known as WHAT ABOUT FRANK, band mates Mark Melicia (vocals), Dave Rosen, Paul Ritchie (guitarists) and bassist Nick Villapiao, and drummer boy Sam Bey take the influences of the music world seriously sounding very similar to other rock artists on the market such as WOLFMOTHER, and classic rock stars LED ZEPELLIN. With the current debut release of ‘As You Were A Crow’, this record has many features included on the mixture having several chord progressions, rooted in between blues songs such as ‘Hard Times’, and ‘Tide of Tears’, bringing out instantly that remembrance of old school act LED ZEPELLIN having those same classical guitar soloing riffs that draws you towards the music’s rhythm instantly. But this album doesn't only offer an classical rock and roll vibration echoing throughout the album, an very touching acoustic piece called ‘When I was An Orphan’, slowly begins to build as the tune begins to roll, from an organic acoustic melody that tends to see vocalist Mark Melicia stretching his vocal skills to a whole another level completely.

This rock and roller pantheon is back and in style once again letting the rock and roll juices run freely everywhere and anywhere in visible sight. His lyrics paint a dark, but vivid picture, telling a heart wrenching story of love lost. The song traverses a spectrum of pain and gives the band a moment to shine. In fact, it's the kind of acoustic ballad that'll be a live staple for years to come, ending with a huge sing-a-long after the huge vocal catharsis. Moving to a brighter side of the darkened area we get thrown with ‘Can't Keep No Good Boy Down’, it illustrates the band's dynamic side and creativity quick and easy not missing a note of beat as the song just seamlessly rolls right off the musical scale. THE PARLOR MOB can do dark, pensive ruminations and pain, and they can also paint the town red with riffs. Melicia also relays some poignant stories through his intelligent and artistic lyrics. In fact, the record out plays out like a movie positing cohesive tales in each song. It's got the classic rock boundlessness without merely ripping off the classics. Rock fans, join this mob immediately. You won't regret it.
