Some artists just can´t get enough of creating and could be considered as workaholics without hesitation. Sven Friedrich is without a doubt one of that kind. The singer / front man of the bands DREADFUL SHADOWS and ZERAPHINE comes along with a new release of his electro project SOLAR FAKE. After ‘Broken Grid’ (2008) and ‘Resigned E.P.’ (2009), he´s going to break up ‘Frontiers’ now. Ok, ok... I have to admit that I´m probably not that objective due to the fact that Sven´s voice always is causing me goose bumps and I´m pretty into his works. But nevertheless, one has to acknowledge that the stuff SOLAR Fake is presenting to the audience is not that kind of stuff you´re listening to at every corner of the street.
This release is inspired by the desire of making music and furthermore to enjoy what you´re doing; it´s a spirited and ambitious work that continues the way of its predecessors without stagnancy. ‘Frontiers’ is the consequent development of ‘Broken Grid’ and ‘Resigned’ - three years of thoughtful composing and a pretty good mixture and variety of electronic music´s facets leads to the conclusion that is well said by SPV: “driving beats and danceable floor fillers melt with great melodies you can't get out of your head once you hear them. Sven’s voice is multifaceted like never before, but still it is the one element connecting all 11 tracks to a whole complete work.” There´s no need to discuss the songs particularly, because there is none that I would not enjoy - but my suggestion is: If I´d had to make a decision songs like ‘Until I´m back’ could take up more space on the next release. That one is definitely rocking your socks off…
