WIR SIND HELDEN, Tele
It was Friday, the school was out and I was looking forward to the time that would come later that night. It was the first time I got to see WIR SIND HELDEN performing live. After a change from the Stadthalle to the AMO club in Magdeburg and after the trains finally got going again, I was ready to see this fun band on stage!
TELE produced their debut-album ‘1001 Verdacht’ in 2000. They started out with the typical Indie-Guitar-Sound but they quickly changed to their own style of music. 4 years later in 2004 their next album ‘Wovon sollen wir leben’ came into the stores - this time with the support of a record company - and now, they mostly used German pop songs to express what they feelings.
Music
As I read that they produce pop music I wasn’t really thrilled to see them on stage but I wanted to get my own picture of that band. Afterwards, I was happy I did so because I just loved their music. It sounded so relaxing, just as vacation for my ears. The slow guitars, nice soft drums and his kind of stoned voice; it was just perfect to just stand there and let yourself sink down in the wave of that music.
Performance
The stage was pretty small for 6 people but they tried their best. Tobias (guitars) always moved around to the sound. That was pretty funny to watch him jumping and turning around all the time always trying to still play the right accords to the songs. Fancesco (vocals) put a lot of feelings into his singing which was pretty amazing. All in all it was a nice performance, but with really bad light.

WIR SIND HELDEN
WIR SIND HELDEN (German for "We are heroes") is a German band. While it is difficult to categorise, the group's style has often been considered similar to that of the “Neue Deutsche Welle”. Other comparisons have been made to Rio Reiser and the music of the “Hamburger Schule”. Songs such as 'Denkmal' (Memorial) bear resemblance to NIRVANA, whilst others such as 'Nur ein Wort' (Just one Word) evoke NEW ORDER. The video for 'Nur ein Wort' was an imitation of BOB DYLAN's famous 60s 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' "video". The sense of humour evident in many WIR SIND HELDEN lyrics and videos sets them apart from the more earnest end of Indie music, however.
Music
WIR SIND HELDEN had had a lot of really great hits with their music, for example ‘Denkmal’, ‘Nur ein Wort’ or ‘Panik!’ and of course, they played all of their famous songs. Judith’s voice was brilliant, just like always, and the guitars and drums were just perfectly set up. The sound of the trumpet just matched to some of the sounds like butter on toast. They didn’t only play their songs but they also covered songs from other bands. At the end of the show, they had TELE come up to the stage and perform a song with them.
Performance
The band is known for their energetic performance and that night, they really showed all of their energy. Judith (vocals) was jumping around all the time showing how much fun she has performing of the fans. On time, she lay down on the ground and even the band didn’t know why she was doing that. It was pretty fun. She started singing a song and then, she just started laughing like hell because of the fans who were singing along the whole time. Jean-Michel (guitar) changed his instrument in almost every song from a piano to a portable keyboard and then back to the guitar. He was wearing sunglasses the whole time which was kind of weird because it wasn’t really that bright in the hall but it was sure fun to watch!
