VIGILANTE from Chile has become known as one of the toughest representatives of the South American Industrial- / Electro scene combining socially critical lyrics with heavy guitars and vibrant synth sounds. Beside nearly world-wide releases of `The Heroes´ Code´ (2005), `Juicio Final´ (2006), `War of Ideas´ (2007) and the best of-album `Resistir´ (2007), VIGILANTE can look back on many contributions to genre-typical compilations. Furthermore, the Chileans have already collaborated, respectively toured with big names such as DIE KRUPPS, NINE INCH NAILS, VNV NATION, HOCICO und AGONOIZE. In 2006, the formation was able to attract the attention of the German audience while having an appearance at the popular “Wave Gotik Treffen” in Leipzig. Since this year´s September, VIGILANTE has been touring European clubs.

Actually, `Life is a Battlefield´ consists of a live DVD (recorded in high-definition) and an additional audio CD featuring all the live tracks as well as two brand-new songs from the upcoming album `The New Resistance´ and a DIE KRUPPS-remix of `Still alive´. Since I don´t know the DVD, I will focus on giving a comment on the audio CD. There is no doubt about it: VIGILANTE knows how to create a sweaty show. Mastermind Iván Muñoz´ powerfully roaring vocals are a perfect match with synth- and guitar-driven sounds resulting in threatening and at the same time melodious thunderstorms. Fortunately, the pretty good sound quality didn´t exclude the singing and cheering audience - that´s how a great live album should sound like! All the tracks are rousing blasts radiating a lot of energy and angriness. Beside toughness and aggressive sounds, they are very catchy and danceable. Therefore, an appropriate concert atmosphere in your living rooms should be guaranteed.
