Ruhrpott Metal Meeting 2017 Day 2 with Testament, Doro Pesch, Annihilator, Orden Ogan, Gloryhammer, Death Angel
Despite the snowy weather, about 3,000 metal heads came out to the Turbinenhallen in Oberhausen for the Ruhrpott Metal Meeting. The second day presents another great line-up with i.e. DEATH ANGEL, GLORYHAMMER, ORDEN OGAN, ANNIHILATOR, DORO and trash metal legends TESTAMENT.

Ruhrpott Metal Meeting 2017 Day 1 with Max & Igor Cavalera Return to Roots, Overkill, Insomnium, Deserted Fear, Wolfheart, Savage Messiah
Ruhrpott Metal Meeting brings about 3,000 metal fans to the Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen at the end of this year. This relatively young festival, existing since 2015, has built a name with a strong line-up with in the past amongst others HAMMERFALL, ALESTORM, AT THE GATES, BLIND GUARDIAN, ICED EARTH and SAXON. This year was no exception as the organizers present us with no one less but TESTAMENT, MAX AND IGOR CAVALERA RETURN TO ROOTS, DORO, OVER KILL, INSOMNIUM, DEATH ANGEL and many more.

Nothing More – “The Stories We Tell Ourselves Tour 2017” – Support: Psycho Village
Last Wednesday night, the cosy Cologne Club Luxor was packed to the limit (aka sold out), because people wanted to check out another hidden gem from the American Rock scene: the band NOTHING MORE. These four guys from San Antonio, Texas are on heavy rotation in the refreshingly diverse American radio station landscape, and have been nominated for three Grammy Awards for their latest record ‘The Stories We Tell Ourselves’. Yet, as the rather small concert venue indicates, they managed to stay mostly under the radar here in Europe.

Last Saturday we were taken to a time warp by the legendary YELLO! In the 1980s Dieter Meier (72) and Boris Blank (65) under the name YELLO pioneered electronic music. Blank, the sound visionary, paired timbales with tape loops on the synthesizer, collected sounds and crossed them with Bach's church organ: “What follows the lightning is the thunder!” This was at the same time a return to the once-ostracized ‘musique concrète’ as well as an anticipation of techno.

K’s Choice
In 2017, K'S CHOICE celebrates its 25th anniversary and is still alive and kicking, more than ever. In March they released ‘25’, a career spanning album including all their biggest hits and a new recording of ‘Not an Addict’ featuring Skin from SKUNK ANANSIE! To celebrate their anniversary, the band is performing in Europe, which also includes Luxembourg, to bring a mix of their greatest hits.
