New Waves Day with The Mission, Chameleons Vox, Cassandra Complex and more
The New Waves Day celebrates its premiere in Oberhausen. On 13 May this year, the atmospheric Turbinenhalle will be host to a one-day festival that will bring the original early 80s Wave & Gothic sound to the stage. Away from the black Schlager and the dark techno, the presented acts have one thing in common: they come from the foundation decade of the black scene or are affected by it.

After 8 years, KLEZ.E released their fourth album ‘Desintegration’ on 13 January 17. An album that takes its starting point in the very same year when not only the Berlin wall fell and the so-called end of the story was called, but also ‘Disintegration’ by THE CURE was released. Siebert, who grew up in the East of the Republic, and has always been inspired by Western New Wave and Post Punk-influenced Pop music, looks back in the echo chamber of the present into the time of the great promises that were already unfulfilled in the reverberation of the toms and the monotonous bass lines disappeared in the Disconebelirvana. They also promise liberation, which in an ideological-critical sense may have always been hollow, but now seem to be more than ever. German-American Industrial act Y-Luk-O will release their next video single “Lipstick Lie” on Valentine’s Day 2017 (February 14). “Lipstick Lie” is a powerful and subtile blend of Industrial, Electronic and Metal. The soundtrack and video are an alternative for Valentine’s Day for those who are bored to watch 50 Shades of Grey in cinema. The video has been directed by Michael Herrmann of ABGedreht Productions. 2016 will go down in history as black year of pop music. Not only because many great artists have left us this year, but because several masterpieces have appeared, which deal with sadness and death. One of them is ‘Skeleton Tree’ by NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS. True, death and devil have always been in the repertoire of the great story-teller Cave, yet these eight songs are tragically special. They originated at a time when Cave had to process the death of his son. The film ‘One More Time With Feeling’ by Andrew Dominik documents this and shows relentlessly how Cave and his family falter with fate, but the work on ‘Skeleton Tree’ kept Cave grounded and bandmate and friend Warren Ellis was creative as well emotional support. - Details
