Status Quo
Rock band STATUS QUO formed in London in the 60s and are one of Britain’s longest-running bands, staying active for six consecutive decades. The band has had more than 60 UK chart hits and released over 100 singles and 33 albums, many of which were bestsellers.
In America, STATUS QUO faded from attention after shifting from Psychedelia to Heavy Boogie Rock in the early 70s. Despite repeatedly using the same simple Boogie style in their music, their huge popularity in Britain never declined. In fact, their predictability helped secure a large and loyal fan base.
STATUS QUO opened Live Aid at Wembley in 1985 and received several accolades, including a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 1991 and the Service to Rock award at the Kerrang! Awards in 2014. They are recognized for their longevity and success, frequently referred to as a “national institution” by the British press, and have sold approximately 108-118 million records worldwide.
