linkin park fromzeroShinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn began meeting up more frequently over the past few years. Without much fanfare and no fixed agenda - they weren’t aiming to “restart the band” or anything like that. Instead, they simply wanted to spend more time together, rekindling the creativity and camaraderie that had formed the core of their friendship since their college days. During these meetups, they often invited different friends and collaborators to join them in the studio. A special connection developed with Armstrong and Brittain, and as they spent more time together, a natural chemistry evolved into something uniquely magical. This was the sound of musicians who had been making music for as long as they could remember - now rediscovering the electric energy of a fresh start. This was the birth of ‘From Zero’.

Shinoda on the new era: “Before we became LINKIN PARK, our first band name was Xero. The album title reflects that time when we were nobodies taking our first steps, as well as the journey we’re embarking on now. Sonically and emotionally, it’s about past, present, and future - we’re staying true to our signature sound, yet everything feels fresh and alive. And it’s supported by a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, friends, family, and fans. We’re proud of what LINKIN PARK has become over the years and excited for the journey that lies ahead.”

With their first single, ‘The Emptiness Machine’, you immediately get a sense of what Shinoda is talking about. The song unmistakably carries LINKIN PARK’s DNA, their explosive energy, and their unique sound that’s recognizable among thousands. Shinoda’s hypnotic melodies set the stage for Armstrong’s blazing chorus, accompanied by distorted riffs and drums that get your head nodding along. ‘The Emptiness Machine’ is an incredibly catchy anthem, one that keeps evolving - it couldn’t be a more convincing return for Linkin Park.

Shinoda adds, “The longer we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their incredible talents, their company, and the things we created together. With this new lineup and new music that’s so full of life and energy, we truly feel a whole new strength. We’re weaving in the sonic trademarks we’re known for while also breaking new ground.” LINKIN PARK taps into the energy of their past, in its purest form, much like their Xero days, blending it with the present and future. This is FROM ZERO. The new era has officially begun.

With ‘The Emptiness Machine’, the band returned immediately to the spotlight. The song climbed to number 1 on both the Billboard Alternative and Mainstream Rock Airplay Charts, marking their 13th and 11th number-one positions on these charts, respectively. The song also debuted at number 4 on the UK Singles Charts, marking the highest UK chart position of the band’s 24-year career. In Germany, it has held the number 1 position for an astonishing nine weeks straight.

Their follow-up album, ‘Meteora’, continued this success, reaching No. 1 in Germany, the UK, and the U.S., where it has now achieved 8x Platinum certification (4x Platinum in Germany). The band’s entire catalogue has sold over 100 million copies worldwide, and they have earned numerous awards, including 2 Grammys, 5 American Music Awards, 4 MTV VMA Awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards, and 3 World Music Awards. LINKIN PARK has performed in sold-out stadiums worldwide and headlined international music festivals, including Download and Reading & Leeds in the UK, Rock am Ring / Rock im Park in Germany, Rock in Rio in Portugal, and Summer Sonic in Japan. Notably, they were the first and only Western rock band to tour China with five stadium concerts. In 2020, LINKIN PARK celebrated the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking debut album ‘Hybrid Theory’ with a comprehensive Super Deluxe Box Set release, which reached No. 2 on the German charts. Last year, they released the ‘Meteora 20th Anniversary Edition’, which topped the charts in Germany and other countries, featuring the song ‘Lost’, rediscovered in the band’s archives. This emotionally charged single, originally recorded during sessions for their second studio album ‘Meteora’ (2003), reached No. 5 on the German singles chart following its release in February 2023. In April this year, ‘Papercuts’, the band’s first greatest hits album spanning their entire career, debuted at No. 2 in Germany. The compilation also includes the previously unreleased archival track ‘Friendly Fire’, which topped the U.S. alternative rock charts and became a Top-40 success in Germany.

LINKIN PARK has been a defining force in music and pop culture over the past two decades. The band has consistently used its influence beyond music, actively engaging in charity and relief efforts to make the world a better place. Over the years, LINKIN PARK has raised millions of dollars for victims of natural disasters.
