Review Flash

I had to reshape my expectations relating to the band´s self-penned definition of genre (Progressive Gothic Wave), because ‘To Lunar Canyons’, the second fulltime album from the German quartet, is no more and no less than well-fashioned assembly kit-electro dark rock, whose essentials are hard-edged distorted guitars and a sound vocabulary borrowed from the territorial waters of EBM and synth pop. I can´t deny that the album has it´s few good moments (‘Festival of Light’, ‘Road up to the Sky’ e.g.), but unfortunately the most parts of it get stuck in its own homogeneity, blocked by its distorted and inorganic sonic stylistics.

Conclusion: THE BEAUTIFUL DEAD’s ‘To Lunar canyons’ is energized and dance-floor-compatible solid Electro Rock, but without any lasting sensorial adhesion.
