THE HEARD was formed in 2017 in Stockholm, Sweden by musicians of both CRUCIFIED BARBARA (Ida Evileye - Bass, Nicki Wicked - Drums and Klara Force on Guitar) and DEATHSTARS (Jonas Skinny Kangur - Guitar) and completed by vocalist and Burlesque Goddess Pepper Potemkin. The label describes their music as their vision of Doom, Hard Rock and Metal and in parts I agree. Potemkin’s voice is a nice alternative to the stuff I usually listen to (which I usually love). I sense a variety of styles mixed up nicely here. The most stuff is a mix of Heavy Rock with 70s influences here and there, sometimes there is a touch of metal to be heard and in some songs there’s even more Metal. Think of DANZIG with a way better version of DORO on the microphone. ‘Caller of Storms’ is an example for the 70s influenced style the ladies and the gent play occasionally.
Conclusion: I went into this review of a list I got from my boss, I did not know this was a female fronted band (normally I don’t dig that) but I was surprised by the style and quality of THE HEARD and I really like the vocals of Pepper, so if you like stuff like this check it out and if you font check it out too.
