Review Flash

Some things just won’t stay dead and in the Rock and Metal world we have to thank labels like Heaven and Hell Records to bring back bands from the past. In some cases, it’s bands that should have been really big (MIDEVIL, CEREBUS) or bands that had only a short moment in time in the spotlight. Today’s band is BRAT, I’m not sure if I had heard of these guys or if my memory just fails me (it happens, this ole headbanger is not getting younger). BRAT originally was named THE END and came to be one of the best years in history, 1980 (of course I was born in 1980 but it is important to mention that AC/DC released ‘Back in Black’, JUDAS PRIEST released ‘British Steel’ and IRON MAIDEN released ‘Iron Maiden’, the term New Wave of Heavy Metal was invented by Dave Lewis and sadly Bon Scott and John Bonham died). The record (first time on CD) comes with a full-page booklet that has the complete lyrics, never before seen photos, a brief band bio and nice cover art by Steve Cobb and is limited to 500 copies worldwide. BRAT did play heavy rock with a sleazy approach like RATT or POISON to name a general direction for some of the influences.

Conclusion: Well played music for true believers and fans of lyrics that often revolve around getting laid and partying hard. Check out ‘One Life to Live’ it’s a hit.
