Review Flash

Part II of my little Corona Crisis Project. The second band I will lend my hand with a little write-up and resulting world-wide fame is TORN AWAY from Flint, Michigan. Bass-man Joe Huls told me about the hardships of the citizens of Flint and man I did not know the half of it: poverty, lead contaminated water and to top things of the city was crime ridden as fuck in 2010 - 2012. If you guys know the history of BLACK SABBATH (4 guys growing up in post-war Birmingham deciding to escape the grind in the factories by playing music that was later labelled Heavy Metal) and Metal in general you know hardships are the germ cells of Metal. I know shit about real hardships (in my generation it was the end of the world when mom and dad divorced, no lead contaminated water in my childhood). All tragedy aside TORN AWAY play a nice modern kind of groove metal mixed with 90s Alternative Rock, not as hard as PANTERA but not as soft and mainstream as alternative bands like INCUBUS but definitely somewhere in between.

Conclusion: Check out TORN AWAY if you like it rough but with a bit of radio appeal.

Rating: 6 / 10
