Once upon a time (or March of dumpster fire year 2020) I reviewed a demo of a bunch of promising young men under the moniker TORN AWAY. And very soon the debut will arrive, don’t be confused as it is named ‘As We Rise’ just like the demo. The sound is refined, the vocals sound less raw but in a good way. TORN AWAY hail from Flint, Michigan an ill-fated town with a population of roughly 102,434 people and all of them suffer because of the towns lead poisoned water supply (there’s a documentary on Netflix called ‘Flint Town’). Frustration, hardships and suffering is, as we all know, fuel for pissed off music so not everything is bad about shit hitting the pan is it? Anyway, the boys have worked on their songs and their sound and it seems there will even be a music video or two so I think the red carpet to success is all laid out for TORN AWAY. The refined and better sounding debut was done by the band itself: record, mixing and mastering was done by the members themselves.
Conclusion: If you dig the more melodic PANTERA songs and maybe even some old UGLY KID JOE you should treat yourself to some TORN AWAY.
