Review Flash

The first notion when reading the band name LYCANTHRO was: ”that sounds Spanish”. Of course I thought these guys hail from Spain or Mexico, but hell no! LYCANTHRO is an old-school Heavy Metal band from the sacred grounds of Ottawa, Canada. Formed in 2016, they released their first demo ‘Lycanthro’ in 2017 only to follow up with the EP ‘Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse’ by May 2018. Vocalist James Delbridge is a singing whirlwind, and a kick-ass guitar player (as is David Shute) the rhythm section consisting of Carlo Cote on bass and Nathan Shuman on drums sets pace and raises the bar when it comes to speed and power. Musically this is mostly Heavy meets Thrash and a bit of Power Metal here and there. This EP even has a song featuring Jaques Belanger (ex-EXCITER, ASSASIN’S BLADE). Just highly melodic Canadian Steel forged with passion and power. Of course ‘Pale Rider’ with Jaques and James is the melodic highlight of the EP and that makes it my Favourite.

Conclusion: If you (like me) love Canadian Metal, check it out!
