Review Flash

NIGHT COBRA hail from Houston, Texas and ‘Dawn Of The Serpent’ is their debut full-length. The band is quite new and not much is known (metal archives for example don’t know much at all that much I can tell). A few facts were to be found on the web so I will try to draw you a picture: Bass man Trevi and vocalist Bakka Larson know each other from their time in VENOMOUS MAXIMUS and Bakka even was a member of ETERNAL CHAMPION (who became quite legendary in the underground). The five-piece plays a kind of Epic Metal that leans towards bands like ETERNAL CHAMPION, VISIGOTH and even a bit towards NIGHT DEMON (the heavy metal fuelled Punk Rock attitude). The Opener ‘Run The Blade’ is inspired by the legendary sci-fi movie Blade Runner and ‘The Neuromancer’s Curse’ is probably inspired by William Gibsons Cyberpunk novel ‘Neuromancer’. Of course there is also the inescapable influence of IRON MAIDEN felt and heard over the 32:29 minutes runtime but there is no chance that I will rant about too much of a good thing. If you like your dose of audible steel more on the old-school side of things you will have a good time with NIGHT COBRA.

Conclusion: A nice first full-length gents, thrilled how this will turn out on the next record.
