Zeromancer
ZEROMANCER announced this rare Oslo gig end of September and while the reviewer’s calendar was already saying “weekend in Zurich” (and so did the train tickets), it took about 24 hours to decide that this rare gig could not be missed. The show at the quite newly opened Youngs right in the city centre of Oslo promised to be unique - in an almost private atmosphere, full with highlights from the band’s 20 years of creating music and performing on stage like no one else.

Lebanon Hanover & Support: Konstantin Unwohl
‘The world is getting colder’ - the title of LEBANON HANOVER’s debut album from 2012 really fit to this day in November. At least on the Northern part of the globe. It was cold and windy when I walked to the autonomous youth centre “Glocksee”, a rundown building right at the banks of the Ihme River in the city of Hanover. The view to the opposite side of the river is dominated by the Ihme Centre, a relic of the 1970ies concrete brutalism. The location of the event could be more accurate.

Halestorm + Support: New Year’s Day, In This Moment
Lzzy Hale of HALESTORM, Maria Brink of IN THIS MOMENT and Ash Costello of NEW YEAR’S DAY - three of most powerful female figures in Rock. So it was a pleasant surprise when HALESTORM announced that they would team up with the two other bands for a special tour. These “women in Rock” and their bands came to Germany for four concerts (Cologne, Munich, Offenbach, and Hamburg). NEW YEAR’S DAY and IN THIS MOMENT had new albums to promote, HALESTORM continued their successful ‘Vicious’ tour. We caught up with them in Cologne, where they celebrated their music and power in a tremendous Rock show.

Slimelight / Electrowerkz, Islington, London, UK2nd to 3rd November 2019
Static Darkness 2019 Day 2 with Dunkelsucht, Massive Ego, Reaper, Funker Vogt, Solitary Experiments, Rotersand
Part two of this two day festival, for those that missed the introduction in part one: Does Slimelight need an introduction? For three decades this club night has provided the Gothic community with a home in London. Always held at Electrowerkz, otherwise known as The Islington Metal Works, the gritty nature of a once busy factory / warehouse is a marriage of convenience for Industrial, Goth and EBM music. It’s a slightly more sterile experience now - there is now fully-fledged security, the remnants of Carsten Höller’s pop-up restaurant, a zero tolerance to drugs and even a strict “keep to gender specific toilets” ruling. But it’s still “Slimes”, long may it last.
