Highly Suspect - European Tour 2020 - Special guests: Calva Louise
HIGHLY SUSPECT are without a doubt one of the most promising American Rock acts. With their saturated Stoner Rock, Rich Meyer (bass) and his twin brother Ryan (drums) and their singer and guitarist Johnny Stevens have put themselves at the forefront of a new movement. The earthy and rough Rock, characterized by Blues, Progressive, Grunge and Alternative elements and full of strong vocals and rolling guitar riffs stands on the one hand for a return to old influences, but also for a progressive approach to the sources. This is also true for the band’s third album ‘MCID’, which came out in November last year, and which manifested a rather drastic shift away from the band’s roots, towards a more Hip Hop oriented style.

Royal Republic & The Empire Strikes
Swedish Rock band ROYAL REPUBLIC were playing the last show of their current tour, promoting their latest output ‘Club Majesty’, in Helsinki. Whoever witnessed the four Swedes playing live will agree that their live performance is well worth waiting for, as they put all the energy and emotions into their gigs. And songs such as ‘Tommy-Gun’, ‘Everybody Wants to Be an Astronaut’, or ‘Full Steam Spacemachine’ just deserve to be heard live in a sweaty, beer-laden environment. That’s where the true beauty comes out.

Nada Surf - “European Tour” 2020 - Support: John Vanderslice
‘Never Not Together’, the new LP of the American Indie Rock band NADA SURF, is already a favourite of many fans who thought that the band had lost a bit of their appeal on the last records. The album sounds new and familiar at the same time. NADA SURF celebrate love and friendship on the album. They also did that when they premiered their new songs live in Cologne. As support, NADA SURF invited an old friend: JOHN VANDERSLICE.

Rhapsody Of Fire & Support: Dendera, Serpentyne
On the 1t6th of February I went down into the bowels of the Camden Underworld to see SERPENTYNE support Italy’s RHAPSODY OF FIRE along with Portsmouth based metal outfit DENDERA. RHAPSODY OF FIRE and DENDERA are bands that have not crossed my radar until I was notified by SERPENTYNE that they would be on the bill with them at this show. So, curiosity peaked, ears at the ready and camera batteries charged I made my way to the venue.

Aesthetic Perfection & Support: Jadu and Biomechanimal
An unusual small and intimate gig from this big hitter of the scene, only 300 tickets were up for grabs. It has just been announced that AESTHETIC PERFECTION are due to return to London on a bigger stage as a headliner at Islington O2 Academy in May 2020. However, the small venue, the closeness of the high-energy bands to the crowd made for a very special evening - sometimes the smaller venues are the ones to remember.
