Album Review
Since 1994, the guys of ACCESSORY “are painting the town red” and are well known to maniacs of the German electro genre, but they unfortunately don’t have that state of fame within the whole scene… A long term of constantly composing, recording and producing of awesome stuff, now hopefully seems to lead to the fame and success that listeners are in debt to ACCESSORY! ‘Underbeat’ comes around as a 2CD-release - a “regular” one with new songs and a CD with remixes and previously unreleased tracks including a cover of JOHNNY CASH`S ‘Folsom Prison Blues’.
Starting with the impressive intro ‘The Mouth’, ACCESSORY entrain the audience from the very beginning and are showing up the qualities of their composing during the next songs like ‘Voran’, ‘Keen Girl’, ‘Tanzrichtung Vorwärts’ or ‘Raise’. The whole release is swirling between typical EBM sounds with harsh vocals, tracks with intelligent synth line-structures and a simply electrifying atmosphere. Without any exaggeration one can discover loads of dance-floor fillers coexistent to smooth songs. Comparisons to FADERHEAD or COMBICHRIST are not that far out, but in my opinion the biggest analogy (disregarding the vocals) due to the variety of stomping beats and dreamy sounds can be drawn to the great VNV NATION… Electro heads are bound to buy this release, but also those listeners that are in favour of interesting synth lines should check it out!
