Album Review

How hard does hard rock music need to be for it to last such a long time? Why not forty-five years - yes indeed this is a real fact when it comes to rock’n’rollers LYNYRD SKYNYRD. Unleashing their twelfth LP to date and 45 years later, the band is still determined to rock. ‘God & Guns’ is the name and 12-tracks are what they play. Each of those 12 is a one hit wonder sounding exactly the same right after the other. For instance, with opener ‘Still Unbroken’ it goes down the lines of the classic older styling's that LYNYRD SKYNYRD has been known to establish musically. But that old sensational feeling doesn't live up to the classy styling for too long.

‘Skynyrd Nation’ is, let's just say, the "anthem" of the fall semester; this tune plays right off into the pure historic Rock’n’Roll vibe creating an overwhelming sense - that overlaps the music throwing it into multiple directions, the guitars going off one way with their non-stop solo breaking while the drums progress their own uniqueness allowing the rest of the music to follow through falling into its proper placements. One other tune that's even worth mentioning has to be ‘Floyd’ (feat. Rob Zombie). Now this tune is very unique because it brings in an icon not to mention an artist like ROB ZOMBIE. This pretty much clears the deal and creates an even more overwhelming music experience to overpower you.

This twelfth album is an achievement for the band for being around for such a long time period, bringing back that classic Rock’n’Roll feeling but the music progresses itself a little too much sounding exactly the same throughout each song that goes through, creating this never-ending texture of nonsense.
