VANDENBERG’S MOONKINGS is Adrian Vandenberg’s new band (more or less) formed in 2011. In the year 1998 Adrian Vandenberg decided to leave WHITESNAKE the band which he played ten years in (1987 - 1997) in order to have time for his new-born daughter Mickey and concentrate on his paintings. In the year 2011 he was asked to write a song for FC Twente, the football club from his hometown of Enschede that had become the champions of the Dutch premier league the year before, he wrote the stadium rock song ‘A Number One’ and immediately began to search for a singer to record the material.
He found a very capable one in Jan Hoving. It took a little time from then but in 2013 they finally met to record that nice piece of Rock`n`Roll I am listening to right in this very minute. The songs are smooth and rough at the same time and it is a real pleasure to listen to these guys having fun with their instruments. The sound is all of a piece and you can really hear and feel that they did enjoy themselves in the studio. Jan Hoving is an incredible guy pushing all the right buttons with his vocal range and his singing style, Adrian Vandenberg earns every second of fame on this record and the rhythm section is as tight as those yoga pants that are so in at the moment.
I am not kidding when I say, there is no getting around this band if you are into Rock’n’Roll. Check it out, fall in love and buy that record!!!
