Industrial-Metal Legends Static-X have begun announcing tour dates for Summer 2012. The band, fronted by Singer/Guitarist Wayne Static, will embark on dates beginning July 15at the Ink Life Tattoo Convention at the El Paso Coliseum.
Static commented on the upcoming tour saying "I had a great time over the past few years doing my Pighammer album and solo tours, but it's time to get Static-X back on the road. I can’t wait to tear it up with some old school Evil Disco!” The tour will be the first for the Metal titans since they announced a hiatus in 2009. Original bassist Tony Campos will not be joining the band on this tour but says “I’m proud of my years with Static X, and want to see the name of the band stay alive and well. I hope that all of our fans will continue to support both Wayne and I in our individual endeavors.”

Johan van Roy, Belgian Hellectro-pioneer and co-founder of the entire genre, returns with a strictly limited new single! On “Attention Whore”, Suicide Commando not only take a cynical dig at the egomania prevalent in the scene, but have also produced a classic club burner par excellence. Harsh shouts meet thudding club beats and bass-laden electronic attacks in a fulminant floor filler that stands in the best tradition of the band’s hit tracks. The b-side “Evacuate” shows Suicide Commando from an altogether different side with minimalist technoid sounds that are likely to win the group an audience in other scenes as well. Six remixes, including big names like Funker Vogt, Nachtmahr or X-RX, make this CD-single a disco-inferno of epic proportions and the John Lord Fonda Remix of “Evacuate” should be able to create a buzz in the Techno club circuit, as well.

In 2010, Luke Ritchie set himself a challenge - to write a song a week for six months. Between January and July, he composed 26 songs, recorded them at home on acoustic guitar and posted them online as podcasts. By the time the experiment was over, through word of mouth alone, the songs had been downloaded 8500 times and Ritchie was ready to pick the best for an album he planned to put out himself. Yet the route to the release of The Water’s Edge, Ritchie’s glorious debut, isn’t quite so straightforward. Before they reached the studio, the songs had found fans in globally acclaimed arranger Nico Muhly (Bjork, Anthony & The Johnsons, Grizzly Bear) and award-winning producer Paul Savage (Franz Ferdinand, Arab Strap, Mogwai). The former composed and recorded string parts for five of the tracks. The latter produced the entire album over two snowy weeks in Scotland.

Thot is currently working on a new EP including guest appearances of catherine Graindorge (Monsoon, Nox) Colin H. Van Eeckhout from AmenRa. This new effort is going to be more "ambiant" oriented, but don't worry, it's like the quietness before the storm of what Thot should become next year. Yes, other new songs are already in the pipe, and it's going to be louder than ever.
