The band’s title DOMOVOYD may sound as if they were Russian but they’re a Finnish band founded in 2010 and their debut ‘Oh Sensibility’ shows fusion of psychedelic elements with Doom Metal. Atmospheric composition they are for sure, the doom riffs are tripped by the sludge and drone echoes, the sparse vocals suitably muted as if coming from behind the wall. ‘By Taking Breath’ may have been taking its inspiration from RED SPARROWES’ ‘Like The Howling Glory Of The Darkest Winds...’
Conclusion: Minimalistic it is yet the potential doesn’t seem to be harnessed, there seems to be something missing – the psychedelic elements could have been more explored, Doom elements could have brought in more melancholy here and thus it doesn’t grasp the attention fully as it should. Work on the details, please!
