At the beginning, the Kentucky stoner band MOONBOW was meant to be a writing project with the possibility to become a recording project. In the year 2010, singer Matt Bischoff contacted David McElfresh of HANK3 and the band LETHAL. The plan was to get together to write some material for some potential recordings. Songs were written and things started to get serious so the guys approached the former AFGHAN WIGS/ HERMANO drummer Steve Earle and Bassist Ryan McAllister of VALLEY OF THE SUN to form some kind of stoner super group called MOONBOW. At first I have to say I never was a big stoner fan but I slowly warm towards it. That said I can start the praise, this is one of the better stoner rock records. The music sounds earthy, enthusiastic and unfeigned. Matt Bischoff`s voice is made for this and hey these guys even got a song featuring John Garcia (need I say more stoner rock aficionados?).
Conclusion: For me these seven songs are some of the best stoner rock outputs of the last five years, so lay back, light your spliff and take a listen…
