Review Flash

UK duo expand to become a four-piece after the surprise success of their debut album in 2011. They’ve built in a fail-safe to their work by originally claiming it was all done “for a bit of a laugh,” although with ‘London Road’, an homage to the daily life of the City that spawned them, they are now apparently “for real”. But it’s a slobby and dated sounding mess at times, merging Dubstep (yes, that old chestnut is still being pointlessly plundered and squeezed to find some worth) and rock guitars with bland vocals and fractured, irritating songs. Occasionally managing to soundtrack snippets of London life, on the whole it fails on most levels.

Conclusion: Hard to know who would actually listen to this in 2015, as it’s stuck like glue in a recent and largely loveless past.
