Review Flash

Hailing from Copenhagen, The Grenadines describe their style as “sing-along folk pop”, which is entirely accurate and disarmingly honest. Sounds dreadful? Far from it. There’s something warm and organic in their MACCABEES meets THE BEACH BOYS harmonies, and sprightly, optimistic melodies. Let the gently lapping waves of “Oh oh oh”s wash over you on opener ‘Fooles’, sway in some summery breeze to ‘Civilization’ and get foot stamping to the fizzy bounce of ridiculously ear-wormy ‘Never On Your Own’. Things end with the gently mature ‘When I’m Old’, smooth and sophisticated like a good brandy.

Conclusion: There’s nothing here to get the pulse above steady, but as a break from the darkness, this breezy, easy summery pop is perfect to just lose yourself in, for as long as you may need.
