Thrash Metal? Yes! Underground Bands? Yes!! Underground Thrash? Double kill!!! As most of those who read my reviews know, I love underground stuff and thrash metal. UZZIEL are underground as fuck and they play a fierce kind of modern Thrash (rough as fuck, groovy and melodic). The backing vocals in ‘Dementia’ are unusual for this kind of music and the overall approach to lyrics these guys usually pursue but that makes it kinda catchy. UZZIEL is active since 2010 and they have released a demo and two LPs in that time. Vocalist Mex Uzziel sounds pissed and on the verge of starting a massacre to be honest, but there is a fan-base for this I am sure. This is Thrash Metal with lyrics bordering on Death Metal but really quite melodic and catchy so it’s understandable that critics celebrated the sound of UZZIEL when they released their debut ‘Torn Apart’. What strikes me is that they even do a proggy thing here and there like a jazz part, or backings vocals that are clean that totally counter the harsh vocals of Mex.
Conclusion: If you like your vocals raw and aggressive and your thrash diversified check this out!
