BLACK TAR SUPERSTAR is a Sludge / Doom band from Akron, Ohio and this cheerful bunch is active since 2014 and this is their debut full length. BLACK TAR SUPERSTAR play a pretty rough style somehow located between sludge and Doom with bits and pieces of mangy blues. The vocals are pretty raw and boorish while the overall sound of the compositions borders between sludge and even stoner sometimes. The voice of the frontman called Doctor are nothing you would show a girl in the first date (maybe the third of fourth). If you are searching for something smooth and complex or highly melodic you should search somewhere else, BLACK TAR SUPERSTAR country is fucking lizard country, even stones have hair on their chests here and if you order something else than Whiskey you might get punched...
Conclusion: If you like a rough ride and don't mind the lack of a brake this is for you.
