17th March 2009
Nazareth
Founded in 1968, the Scottish Hard Rock band NAZARETH celebrated the first successes in the 1970s by releasing records such as `Razamanaz´ (1973) and `The Hair of the Dog´ (1975). The cover version of the EVERLY BROTHERS´ song `Love hurts´ brought the final breakthrough in Europe as well as in the USA. Up to now and besides the anthem `Dream on´ and the stamping `This Flight tonight´, this ballad has been associated with Nazareth´s music and is still an all-time favourite on the radio.

8th March 2009
Marc Almond
The British singer, who has been successful as a solo artist as well as a part of the band SOFT CELL, had been seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in 2004. For a long time, it has been arguable whether he could recover from the injuries. When I read about his `Stardom Road Continued Tour´, I was very excited and grateful. Looking forward to watch him live on stage, I went to the Frankfurt Batschkapp on 8th March.

10th March 2009
Phillip Boa & the Voodooclub, Leandra
It’s strange to say that German sound arts, in most cases, only seem to appeal to musically critical foreign-countries if it walks stray from the paths of overly exercised formulaic and predictable music. One of these artists, who’s never that much into following any of the current trends, but rather realizing his own vision of alternative German Indie Rock/Pop, is the singer and songwriter PHILIP BOA who has, through the years, always amazed with his refreshingly different approach to this kind of music, and without him it’s safe to assume the genre would have a much lower standing in the eyes of many, many people - interior or abroad. On 10th March, he was presenting his new Album ‘Diamond Falls’ at the Matrix Club in Bochum, supported by LEANDRA.

8th March 2009
Sonic Syndicate, Deathstars, Phoenix Cry
I obviously completely underestimated the popularity of the bands playing at the Matrix this time around. A huge queue of people was waiting still standing outside when I arrived and after we entered the venue we saw that at least the same amount of people was already waiting in front of the stage and had occupied the best places in the first row of course.
