Diary of Dreams & Sharon Next
On this sunny Monday, gigantic crowds of people flowed out in Munich once again in the direction of the Oktoberfest, but there were also some along with them who were on the way to the Backstage to experience DIARY OF DREAMS and SHARON NEXT during their recent “Ego Tour”.
Sharon Next
SHARON NEXT is an Austrian Electro band that was founded in 1995 by Michael Ruin and Helmut Prixs. According their own information, they are influenced, among others, by bands such as JOY DIVISION and THE CURE. Since their foundation they already played concerts together with L'AME IMMORTELLE, ANNE CLARK or also VNV NATION. After a five-years lasting break they had their comeback in 2008 with the release of their EP ‘Embrace in Holyhead'. Their latest album ‘Fast Farewell’ appeared last year. http://www.sharonnext.com / https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sharon-Next/138913816159127

Shortly after 8:00 PM the band SHARON NEXT, consisting of singer Helmut Prixs, Michael Ruin, guitarist Matt C. and Richard Pustina, appeared on stage in the Backstage Halle. After the first song ‘Fast Ending’, the show continued with newer songs of the last three albums. The mood in the audience was good, but not excessively enthusiastic. Diary of Dreams
DIARY OF DREAMS is a German Electro / Darkwave band which was founded in 1989 by singer and Mastermind Adrian Hates. Last year they supported the band UNHEILIG on their 'Große Freiheit‘ tour and then already started their own tour. At the end of August 2011, their new album 'Ego:X' was released, reaching place 23 of the German charts. The speech role during seven pieces on the album was taken over by Martin Kessler known mostly as the dubbing voice of Nicholas Cage and Vin Diesel. Moreover, on the album there's a duet for the first time: The title 'Push Me' was sung by Adrian Hates together with the British singer Amelia Brightman (known also from GREGORIAN). http://www.diaryofdreams.de / https://www.facebook.com/officialdiaryofdreams
Music & Performance
Then around shortly after 9:00 PM it was time for DIARY OF DREAMS, consisting of singer Adrian Hates, Gaun:A (E-guitar/voice), Flex (E-guitar/voice), Dejan (drums) and Taste (keyboards). The evening began - just as known from the album - with 'Into X' spoken by Martin Kessler. Afterwards they went along with 'Giftraum' setting the audience into a great mood from the very beginning and one had the feeling that it became still hotter and hotter there. This time, DIARY OF DREAMS also played a few songs they did not play live for a long time, like 'Amok‘ and 'Butterfly:Dance!' what was welcomed by the audience very much. ‘Son Of A THIEF’ was presented in an extraordinary version enriched by drum play of Flex and Gaun:A. Furthermore, with ‘False Affection, False Creation’ the band played the first song they ever recorded.
The mood reached one climax after the other, the audience joined in the singing and danced and after two hours - which probably might have seemed to the most rather like one - the evening ended after some additions with the song 'Traumtänzer' and lots of happy faces...

This was once more a fantastic concert with DIARY OF DREAMS. I thought that they have managed the new arrangements of some songs extremely well and I am already looking forward to their next concert…
