New Model Army – “Winter Gathering” – Support: The Young Gods
NEW MODEL ARMY are an English Independent band from Bradford, whose music draws from many various influences, such as Punk, Folk and (Hard) Rock. They have been around since the late 70ies, and have used their music and lyrics as a platform for the fight against injustice and oppression. Front man (and only remaining original band founder) Justin Sullivan has retained his incredible charisma throughout the decades, as it has been documented during his solo appearance at the “Acoustic Winter Festival” in Düsseldorf in 2015.

JOACHIM WITT has reinvented himself many times, always keeping to the spirit of the time of authoritative German music history. He never shied away from political and social criticism. Timeless are his hits ‘Der Goldene Reiter’, which describes the performance pressure and anti-social aspect of capitalism including one’s own failure, as well as the legendary duet with PETER HEPPNER on the song ‘Die Flut’, a statement about the pursuit of a better life or at all for a better world.

On 2nd February, BMG will release ‘Walk between Worlds’, SIMPLE MINDS’ first album of new material since 2014’s Big Music (which MOJO magazine declared “their best album in 30 years”). ‘Walk between Worlds’ was produced by SIMPLE MINDS with Andy Wright and Gavin Goldberg, both of whom worked on ‘Big Music’. With its eight tracks rocketing past in 42 minutes, it is a relatively concise affair. It is also an album of two distinct sides, very much the old-school album format that singer Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill grew up with as music fans. Side one tracks such as ‘Summer’ and ‘The Signal And The Noise’ revisit the glassy guitars and new wave dance grooves of the post-punk era and the second half explores more cinematic sounds, with the title track and ‘Barrowland Star’ both featuring dramatic orchestrations recorded at Abbey Road.- Details

Sad news for all VNV NATION fans. As the band announced yesterday, live drummer Mark Jackson leaves the band. Here's the full statement: "As the years pass, life and situations inevitably change. After a long and fruitful working relationship, Mark Jackson will no longer be a part of VNV Nation and will be leaving to pursue other paths in life. Mark’s role as live drummer with VNV Nation began in the 90s, when the band started performing as a live duo. He has expressed his thanks for the time he spent in the band. I’m proud of what VNV Nation has achieved so far and wish him the best with the next chapter of his life. My passion and commitment to VNV Nation will continue as ever.
