“Album 8 and tour news coming soon,” EDITORS teased in an Instagram story last night - and they weren’t keeping fans waiting for long. The news has now landed: the British Indie Rock favourites will hit the road across Europe in early 2027, including five highly anticipated shows in Germany. There’s new music to dive into as well. ‘Call It In’ is the first single from the band’s forthcoming album, offering an exciting glimpse of what’s to come. The accompanying video was directed by EDITORS guitarist Justin Lockey, adding another creative layer to the band’s ever-evolving vision.
Frontman Tom Smith has recently explored new territory with his solo work. His debut album ‘There Is Nothing in the Dark That Isn’t There in the Light’ was released in December, followed by a series of intimate shows in March - including striking performances in churches such as Berlin’s Passionskirche and Hamburg’s Christianskirche. Meanwhile, EDITORS have been quietly working on their eighth studio album, teasing fans with glimpses from the studio in recent weeks.
Formed in Birmingham in the early 2000s, EDITORS quickly carved out a distinctive place in the musical landscape with their blend of anthemic Indie Rock and brooding Post-Punk. Their 2005 debut ‘The Back Room’ propelled them to international recognition, with tracks like ‘Munich’ and ‘Blood’ becoming instant classics. Over the years, the band have continuously refined their sound, embracing electronic influences along the way. Their most recent album, ‘EBM’ (2022), was created in collaboration with British producer Blanck Mass, who briefly became an official member of the band.
On stage, EDITORS remain a formidable force - driven by Tom Smith’s powerful voice and commanding presence. Expect intensity, atmosphere and moments that linger long after the final note.
