EDITORS are back. The acclaimed British band have returned with their brand-new single ‘Call It In’ and announced a major UK and European tour for 2027 - including five long-awaited shows in Germany and a very special stop in Cologne on Valentine’s Day.
Marking their first new music since 2022’s EBM, ‘Call It In’ offers a powerful first glimpse into the next chapter of one of Britain’s most important alternative bands. Written during studio sessions between frontman Tom Smith’s solo debut ‘There Is Nothing In The Dark That Isn’t There In The Light’ and the band’s ongoing live commitments, the track captures EDITORS at their most intimate and emotionally resonant.
Tom Smith describes the single as a song about “asking for help - finding comfort and safety in someone close to you in the face of existential fear. An escape from the deafening noise of modern life.” Recorded during a summer spent writing together in rural Gloucestershire, ‘Call It In’ sees the band reconnect in a more traditional and collaborative setting - a reminder that reinvention and evolution have always been at the heart of EDITORS’ identity.
Released via Play It Again Sam, the single is accompanied by a striking video directed by guitarist Justin Lockey, further underlining the band’s creative vision as they move into a new era.
Since emerging from Birmingham in the early 2000s, EDITORS have become renowned for their blend of atmospheric Indie Rock, dark Post-Punk textures and anthemic emotional intensity. Songs such as ‘Munich’, ‘Papillon’, ‘Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors’ and ‘No Sound But the Wind’ have cemented their place as one of the defining British bands of their generation.
