SKULL FIST started in 2006 as a traditional old school heavy metal band and quickly released a demo with two songs which they sold at their gigs in Canada. In 2011 they put out their debut album ‘Head öf the Pack’ which received some nice reviews especially in Europe. Since then the band toured with bands like GRAND MAGUS, BULLET, STEELWING and VANDERBUYST. The intensive touring lead to a slightly refined style and a different feel to the band’s sound. The change is audible but difficult to put into words. The band is still very 80’s based in their musical approach but the songs are less taxing than on their debut. Jackie Slaughters voice is still thin and sharp like a blade straight out of a fantasy tale and the rhythm section is straight forward jack-hammering through the songs, the guitar solos hit everything aimed at and the head is banging before you know what you are doing.
Conclusion: Nice!!! I liked their debut and I can say I really like the follow up; the guys are getting better without selling out.
