Today on this Channel: HOLDEN from Richmond, Virginia. These guys play a fierce bastard between Post and Doom Metal, this is not the music you want to listen to when you lay back and chill. HOLDEN unleash utter chaos with ‘Sparks between Teeth’ only to slow down to almost full stop with ‘However Small, However Hidden’. To be honest this is not the kind of music I usually listen to because I really don’t dig the chaotic parts as they fill me with unease (isolation does not help). Instrumentally HOLDEN is top notch but the vocals don’t ring my bell because of the harshness and the chaos they represent. They describe their sound as “Sonic Desolation” and I think that fits. The press text compares them to ISIS (only know the name so idk).
Conclusion: Not my cup of tea but that means nothing, I think most metal heads that dig Extreme Metal would want to check this out.
